What is this auction funding?

The Virginia Avenue Project is a free after-school program that uses the Arts in conjunction with long-term, one-on-one mentoring to help Los Angeles kids realize their full potential.

This auction funds these two programs:

The ONE-ON-ONES helps kids discover what is unique about how they express themselves. Following a 4-month performing workshop, each Project kid is matched up with a professional writer/actor who writes an original play for both of them to perform. After a week in Ojai rehearsing, swimming, group activities and more swimming, we come back to LA and perform the plays in a professional theater free of charge to a public audience.

CREATIVE EXPRESSION at Dorsey High School combines acting and playwriting and teaches students how to communicate vocally, physically and emotionally. Storytelling, clowning, puppetry, improvisation, characterization and other aspects of acting/performing, as well as the basics of playwriting cause Dorsey students to gain an awareness of their creative abilities.
